Hot liquid magma

I have a friend who I haven’t seen in years and that’s mostly because she has been teaching in New Zealand for six months and now teaches in Costa Rica. When I ask her where she lives – what kind of place it is, she responds:

“I live under a volcano. But it’s ok because when the volcano erupts, it erupts in the opposite direction of us.”

She doesn’t really believe in texting and wakes up to chickens.

Back in the United States for two weeks, she brushes her long black hair to one side with her hand, looks at me and giggles. I giggle.
